Spilt Green Moon Dal - Dal Bati


Ingredients

For Dal
Split green moon dal - 1/2 cup
Split white urad dal - 1/2 cup
Chana dal - 1/2 cup
Masoor Dal - 1/2 cup
Cumin Seeds - 1/2 spoon
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Turmeric powder - 1/2 spoon
Chilli powder - 2 spoon
Coriander Powder - 1 spoon
Salt to taste


For Bati
Wheat Flour - 1 kg
Sooji - 250 gms
Salt - to taste
Coriander seeds - 1 spoon
Baking Soda - 1/2 spoon
Oil - 1/2 cup
Besan - 200 gms
Ghee for frying


Method
For Dal
Mix all the dals and wash it and boil the dal with turmeric. Let the dal be cooked nicely and smashed. Make a paste of turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and water. Heat oil in a small pan temper cumin seeds and add hing. Add the paste and cook till the masala leaves oil. Add the boiled dal. Cook for 20 mins and add salt. Finish with lemon juice and coriander leaves.

For Bati

Mix atta, coriander seeds, sooji, besan, salt and cooking soda. Add oil to the mixture and mix well. Knead into soft dough and divide into equal balls of 1 inch diameter. Now cook the dumplings in boiling water for 1 hour. Deep fry them in ghee until golden brown. Serve along with dal a
nd ghee
